Ludhiana: A family feud spiralled into a violent public brawl outside the city's civil hospital on Saturday, leaving four men injured as two rival groups clashed with swords in full view of bystanders.
The confrontation, which took place in the hospital's parking area, was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, drawing sharp public criticism over law and order concerns. Police claim the dispute began as a domestic issue between a husband and wife in Ludhiana's Haibowal area. Members from both sides had earlier reported to a local police station and were advised to undergo medical check-ups for prior injuries.
However, when the groups arrived at the Civil Hospital for their examinations, a heated verbal exchange escalated rapidly into violence just outside the hospital gates. "Before they could enter, tempers flared and both sides engaged in a sword-wielding fight on the road," said inspector Gurjit Singh, station house officer (SHO) at Division Number 2 police station. "We are investigating the matter and an FIR will be lodged soon."
Authorities said no arrests had been made as of Saturday evening, but CCTV footage and social media videos are being reviewed to identify all individuals involved. Police have appealed for calm and assured swift legal action.
