Madurai: Madras high court has directed the authorities to take steps to remove encroachments from a waterbody at Chinnamanur village in Theni district.
The court was hearing a petition filed by A Prabakaran seeking a direction to the authorities to remove encroachments from ‘Chinna Vaaikal' in the Uthamapalayam taluk.
The govt pleader stated that the encroachments are in form of trees, and a notice has already been issued by the Uthamapalayam tahsildar to clear them.
A division bench of Justice G R Swaminathan and Justice B Pugalendhi directed the authorities to take action as per law and clear all the encroachments within four months. The judges made it clear that the authorities will issue notice to all encroachers and adhere to the procedures provided in the statute. The petition was disposed of.
