Madurai: Sivagiri police in Tenkasi district arrested a man after his 15-year-old daughter rode his two-wheeler and caused an accident in which a nine-year-old sustained injuries on Saturday. Police arrested the accused, identified as J Gurusamy from Sivagiri North Street, based on a complaint from the girl's mother.
She said she and her daughter were walking when a two-wheeler rider hit them at Sivagiri Senaithalaivar Mandapam. Police traced Gurusamy using the vehicle registration plate and discovered that his 15-year-old daughter had ridden it in a negligent and rash manner, causing the accident.
Based on the orders of Tenkasi SP S Aravind, Gurusamy was arrested and remanded on Sunday even as police confiscated his two-wheeler. The SP said parents allowing their minor children to handle vehicles would be dealt with sternly. They should teach road rules to their children as negligence can cause great danger, he added.
