Rajkot: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) apprehended a sales executive at Specific Fire Protection Limited, on Friday for accepting a Rs 30,000 bribe at the Momai Char Center near Nanavati Chowk in Rajkot city. The complainant, who needed a fire NOC for a temporary dome construction for Property Expo 2024, approached the ACB after Kaushik Piprotar, claimed he could expedite the approval process through financial dealings with the Rajkot Municipal Corporation's Fire Department. The ACB set up a sting operation, leading to Piprotar's arrest while accepting the bribe.
In a separate incident, a police constable at Mangrol Marine Police Station in Junagadh district, was caught by the ACB accepting a Rs 6,500 bribe near the Muktapur checkpoint in Mangrol taluka. Chandrasinh Sisodia had demanded a bribe of Rs 8,000 for four months to allow trucks loaded with bauxite from the region's mines to pass through the checkpoint, charging Rs 500 rupees per truck. The complainant's relative's trucks, despite having all necessary permits and passes, were asked to pay a final amount of Rs 6,500 by Sisodia. The complainant contacted the ACB in Porbandar, leading to a sting operation that caught the accused accepting the bribe.
