Giridih couple, minor son die in road accident

Bokaro: A couple and their minor son died when the car they were travelling in dashed against a tree on the Bagodar-Saria road in Giridih district on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, police said.

Locals said Ashish Kumar Barnwal, along with wife Shweta Barnwal and their one-and-a-half-year-old son Paltua, was driving back home at Chhotki Sariya in Bagodar of Giridih district from Ranchi when he lost control of the car near the Ambadih turn.

According to the locals, the car was speeding.

The officer-in-charge of the Bagodar police station, Vinay Kumar Yadav, said, "The three victims were pulled out of the wreckage after several hours of effort. They were taken to the trauma centre of the community health centre (CHC) in Bagodar. Shweta and the child were declared dead upon arrival. Critically injured Ashish was referred to Hazaribag, but he died on the way."
