SRIKAKULAM: Three persons lost their lives in a blast at a private granite quarry located at Dabbaguda village of Meliaputi mandal in Srikakulam district. Although the incident occurred on Friday (May 16), its details only emerged at midnight on the same day.
The victims have been identified as T Rama Rao (52), B Appanna (38) and Vungavanam Armugam (48), all natives of Tekkali mandal in Srikakulam district.
Family members of the deceased have alleged that the quarry management attempted to mislead the police and suppress the incident by claiming that lighting was responsible for the deaths of the trio.
Even before the police reached the spot, the management of the quarry shifted the dead bodies from the spot. The kith and kin of the deceased staged a protest demanding the authorities to take stringent action against the management for the death of the trio.
Based on the complaint from the family members of the victims, the police led by Inspector of Pathapatna, Rama Rao and his team visited the spot to ascertain the exact reasons for the death of the trio.
