Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s new romantic drama ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ has turned out to be a winner at the box office. The time-loop story has slowly but surely made its mark since its release on 23 May. Directed by Karan Sharma, the film is gaining love from audiences all across the country. Even though it was first planned for big screens and later as a direct OTT release, the makers finally decided to bring it to cinemas instead, and it looks like that gamble has worked out!
Day 11 performance
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, the film took in Rs 2.25 crore on its second Monday, bringing the total to Rs 61.20 crore. The film had an overall Hindi occupancy of 10.15% on June 2.
On Day 11, ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ kept the screens buzzing with a steady Hindi occupancy, 5.27% in morning shows, 11.78% in the afternoon, and 11.06% by evening. While there was a slight dip, the crowds didn’t disappoint.
Solid start and steady growth
‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ opened strong, with Rs 7 crore on its first Friday. The weekend saw a great jump, earning Rs 9.5 crore on Saturday and Rs 11.5 crore on Sunday. By the end of its first week, the film had already made Rs 44.1 crore.
Here’s a breakdown of the film’s day-wise box office collection:
Set in the holy city of Banaras, the film follows Ranjan (played by Rajkummar Rao), who is in love with Titli (Wamiqa Gabbi). He wants to marry her but feels he must first get a government job to win over her family.
Trouble begins when Ranjan breaks a promise he made to Lord Shiva. As a result, he ends up stuck in a time loop, repeating the same day over and over. What starts off funny quickly turns into a heartfelt journey of learning from one’s mistakes and doing the right thing.
