A veteran stunt performer for ‘Horizon 2’ has sued the director and star of the film, Kevin Costner, for filming a violent, unscripted sexual assault scene without informing her by giving prior notice or following the protocols.
The stunt double claims Kevin Costner improvised the scenes...According to Variety, Devyn LaBella, the lead stunt double of the actress Ella Hunt (who plays Juliette), claims that Costner improvised the scene where Juliette is assaulted. However, Ella Hunt refused to perform the scene.
“Due to the ad hoc and violent nature of the sudden script change request, along with the failure to secure a contractually required intimacy coordinator for the scene, Ms. Hunt became visibly upset and walked off the set, refusing to do the scene,” the 28-page complaint stated.
No warning, no consent, no protectionThe lawsuit states that LaBella was called last minute, without any preparations, warning, or consent. Additionally, there was no intimacy coordinator present on the set, nor were the sets closed for the vulnerable scene.

The complaint further states that the male actor was instructed to violently mount her, pin her down, and rake up her skirt. LaBella was humiliated and traumatised by the experience, as per the complaint. “On that day, I was left exposed, unprotected, and deeply betrayed by a system that promised safety and professionalism,” she said in the statement. “What happened to me shattered my trust and forever changed how I move through this industry,” she added.
The stunt double was blacklisted...The protocols were violated on the set, which are negotiated by SAG-AFTRA. The 48-hour notice and consent for the scenes involving stimulated sex or nudity were not given. According to the last filing, not only did Coster demand multiple takes, but he even wanted to increase the violence in the assault.
Post Horizon shoot, Devyn LaBella was blacklisted from employment opportunities after she decided to speak up to multiple individuals, including the Intimacy Coordinator and her stunt supervisors.
Kevin Costner claims...Kevin Costner, with his attorney Marty Singer, claimed that he always made sure everyone was comfortable on his set, taking safety on set seriously. “However, this claim by Devyn LaBella has absolutely no merit, and it is completely contradicted by her actions – and the facts,” Singer said, before adding, “Ms. LaBella is a serial accuser of people in the entertainment industry and has worked with the same lawyer on past claims. But those shakedown tactics won’t work in this case.”
