“God, how blessed I am”- Yankees infielder Oswaldo Cabrera expresses gratitude after his brutal ankle injury

The New York Yankees suffered a major setback after Oswaldo Cabrera met with a severe ankle injury during their recent face-off with the Seattle Mariners . During the game, the Venezuelan baseball athlete suffered a fracture in his left ankle after he accidentally fell over his feet and was unable to stand. He was lifted off in an ambulance to a local hospital. Recently, Cabrera opened up on his ankle injury and even expressed gratitude to his family, friends, and fans for motivating him.

Cabrera was overwhelmed with all the love and support he was subjected to after his severe ankle injury. He took to Instagram and posted about the recent update on his injury. His post mentioned

"When I woke up, one of the first things I did was grab my phone. I didn’t have hundreds; I had THOUSANDS of messages from my family, friends, fans, agents, coaches, teammates…—I simply had messages from EVERYONE. I dropped the phone on the bed, and with a big SMILE on my face, the first thing I could say was, “God, how blessed I am.”

The Yankees star further wrote,

"...And TODAY, after a successful surgery with an excellent medical team and God, with my parents, my fiancée, and my agent, my heart full of love, I want to THANK YOU ALL. My return to the field begins today. Thanks to you, I feel more motivated than ever. So, with the strength I’ve always had and all this beautiful energy that you all give to me , I tell you that I will return, and I will return even stronger to continue giving my best every day. I LOVE U ALL.”

Looking at the severity of his ankle injury, Oswaldo Cabrera was immediately placed on the injured list for 10 days by the New York Yankees. He has been replaced by the Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu for the 2025 MLB season, who completed his rehab session after being on the injured list.
