Send Push
Elden Ring Nightreign introduces players to Tricephalos while throwing the players into brutal expeditions where survival hinges upon overcoming the monstrous Nightlords. Tricephalos is the formidable three-headed beast popularly known as Gladius, Beast of Night . The boss serves as the 1st major challenge within the Expeditions of the game, requiring strategy, better preparation, and some quick reflexes. Whether you are playing with the team or solo, understanding the boss's location, weaknesses, and attacks will prove victorious. Use the guide to do it all with complete ease.

Where to find Tricephalos in Elden Ring Nightreign?

Elden Ring Nightreign Tricephalos is 1st boss available within the Expeditions menu after the completion of the tutorial. Interact with Table of Lost Graces at Roundtable Hold. This becomes the 1st available challenge. To reach the boss, players will have to survive the 2 in-game nights (co-op or solo) in Limveld. During the day, keep the focus on gathering resources and leveling up. With the night falling, the shrinking circle will appear. Stay inside it to avoid the damage from Night’s Tide.

At the end of every night, one mini-boss is to be defeated for continuing the progress. After 2nd night, as the zones become quite small, you will face the challenging Night Boss. Defeat 2nd Night Boss. Success will unlock the central object for entering Spirit Shelter. Here, you can rest and upgrade your gear. The door here will lead you to the Boss Arena, where Gladius awaits.

How to defeat Tricephalos Gladius, Beast of Night?

Gladius is quite aggressive. He hits hard with the fire attacks and physical strikes but is weaker to Holy damage. So, give priority to the weapons with the attribute. The attacks include lunging bites, fire-based abilities, and sweeping sword strikes. Within Phase 1, watch the Chained Sword Sweep, the deadly 2-hit combo with a massive range. To dodge too early will result in you getting hit by follow-up.

Note: Give priority to finding the holy-damage weapons in 1st 2 days. Camps that are marked with holy symbols or the merchants are the best bets.

Watch Tricephalos closely. The telltale purple glow in 3 mouths will signal a dangerous grab-attack. So, dodge immediately. The chained sword sweeps have a massive, deceptive range. Do not assume the distance will keep you safe.

At 75% health, Gladius would split into 3 wolves (deadliest shift). Each of them has unique attacks. One who wields the sword is the most dangerous. Keep the focus on staggering the wolves to reduce the aggression and have better defense. You can even try to have each of the team members (if playing co-op) distract each wolf to prevent the overwhelming focus. With a passing of 45 seconds, they will merge back to 1.

Make sure you target the wolf with the glowing red eyes at first, as staggering is easy. After the wolves remerge, they resume the aggressive pressure and exploit the holy damage to break the stance faster. The coordination and exploitation of holy vulnerability will be your tickets to victory.

Elden Ring strategies to have victory over Tricephalos

  • Use the holy weapons as they can stagger Gladius fast and open it up for the critical hits.
  • Dodge Sword Sweep. Wait for a moment between the rolls to avoid both hits.
  • Split the focus in Phase 2. Try to assign each wolf to a teammate to avoid getting overwhelmed.
  • Watch for the Purple Glows. They indicate the incoming grab attack. Ensure to dodge sideways for evading.

With the right strategy, you can defeat Gladius and unlock some new challenges along with rewards in Elden Ring Nightreign. Make sure to be well-prepared. Also, do not forget to stay mobile and exploit the weaknesses of the boss to have victory.
