NEW DELHI: Govt Wednesday approved the opening of 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas ( KVs ) across 17 states and UTs, a move that will benefit over 86,000 students and create more than 4,600 teaching posts.
I&B minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the proposal, cleared by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), entails an outlay of nearly Rs 5,863 crore over nine years. Of this, Rs 2,586 crore will be spent on capital expenditure, while Rs 3,277 crore will cover operational costs. This is a landmark step in expanding access to quality education, PM Modi said on X.
“The establishment of 57 new KVs has been approved by the cabinet. It is gladdening that the KVs will include Balvatikas, nurturing children from the foundational stage. Several students will benefit, alongside the creation of many jobs. This is in line with our commitment to inclusive growth, particularly in aspirational districts, the northeast and other remote areas,” he added.
