PRAYAGRAJ: People insulting the national flag draw no sympathetic consideration, Allahabad HC has observed, rejecting the bail plea of a Muzaffarnagar man accused of uploading an image insulting the tricolour and posting pro-Pakistan content on his Facebook account.
Vasik Tyagi was booked on May 16, 2025, for his alleged "provocative, objectionable" anti-national posts, leading to his arrest on June 7. Meta's report confirmed IP addresses linked to the posts were used on Vasik's mobile numbers.
Justice Sanjay Singh in his order Monday noted that Vasik's posts "indicate an inclination towards glorification of anti-national ideology " and were "capable of disturbing public peace & order".
The court noted that the applicant could not give a satisfactory reply about posting/uploading the aforesaid posts. "The Indian national flag is a symbol of pride and patriotism. It represents the hope and aspiration of the people of India. Every Indian citizen must safeguard and protect the national flag of its dignity and honour," HC said.
