NEW DELHI: A Border Security Force (BSF) constable has been detained by Pakistan Rangers after inadvertently crossing the international border in Punjab, officials told news agency PTI on Thursday.
The incident occurred near Ferozepur on Wednesday, when Constable PK Singh of the 182nd battalion, dressed in uniform and armed with his service rifle, strayed across the boundary while accompanying local farmers and seeking shade.
Efforts are currently under way through dialogue between the two border forces to ensure his safe return.
This comes at a time when the border situation remains tense due to a terrorist attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir that killed 26 people, mostly tourists.
