A local court in Ahmedabad ordered the recovery of Rs 5 lakh from an employee by her employer towards damages for quitting the job without notice and for her unexplained absenteeism. The court allowed the company to recover the amount in an order passed in an ex parte hearing as the employee did not participate in the court proceedings.

After completion of probation, her appointment was confirmed on certain service conditions. The terms of her employment contract required her to submit a written resignation notice 30 days prior to her intended last day of work. The company filed a suit for breach of contract , claiming it led to monetary losses and damage to the company's reputation.
