Allahabad HC has granted bail to a man accused of raping a teenager on the pretext of marriage, on the condition that he marries her after his release from jail and takes care of their newborn, reports Rajesh Kumar Pandey. The bench of Justice Krishan Pahal also ordered the accused Abhishek to pay Rs 2 lakh towards a fixed deposit to be started in the name of the newborn.
The court ordered Abhishek to marry the survivor within three months of his release from jail.
Abhishek had been accused of having a physical relationship with the girl by promising to marry her. When the girl became pregnant, he allegedly refused to marry her and even threatened her. Subsequently, a rape case was registered against him under the IPC and Pocso Act at Chilkana police station of UP's Saharanpur district.
