JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted simultaneous search operations at three locations in Jammu, Doda and Kupwara (Handwara) districts on Friday, as part of its ongoing crackdown on terror financing networks operating in the Union Territory (UT), and to identify individuals inciting youth against the Union of India, thus threatening national security .
The raids were carried out in connection with an FIR registered at CI-SIA police station in Kashmir under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and IPC. “The meticulous searches aimed to secure critical evidence to unravel a complex conspiracy involving cross-border funding through cryptocurrency , designed to fuel terrorism and destabilize peace in the UT,” an SIA spokesperson said.
“The raids yielded vital evidence — including incriminating articles and electronic devices — marking a breakthrough in exposing the clandestine financial networks that keep the pot of terrorism boiling in J&K,” the spokesperson said, adding that the recovery will aid SIA in identifying and apprehending co-conspirators and accomplices orchestrating anti-national activities in J&K.
The spokesperson said SIA remains committed to rooting out terrorism and its support systems, such as cryptocurrency-based funding, which are being rampantly misused to perpetuate violence and radicalization in J&K.
