Russian President Vladimir Putin indicated that discussions may soon take place to promote the distribution of Indian films in Russia. Speaking about the popularity of Indian cinema within the country, Putin emphasized the strong cultural ties between Russia and India, noting the success of Indian films among Russian audiences.
"If we look at BRICS member states, I think in this country Indian films are most popular. We have a special TV channel with Indian movies being shown on it round the clock," Putin said, highlighting the enthusiasm for Indian cinema in Russia.
He also mentioned ongoing cultural exchanges, including the BRICS film festival and the inclusion of films from BRICS nations in the Moscow International Film Festival this year. Putin expressed optimism about finding common ground with India to promote their films further in Russia, adding that he is open to discussing the matter with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In addition to cinema, Putin also pointed to the potential for cooperation in other sectors, including pharmaceuticals. "We are positive that if Indian films are interested, we will find some common ground and promote them in Russia," he remarked, suggesting a broader framework for India-Russia collaboration.
