Bengaluru: Two men have been arrested by Koramangala Police for allegedly trying to blackmail a 68-year-old retired engineer by threatening to leak a morphed obscene video and demanding Rs 2 crore.
The victim, identified as Gangappa, a resident of Koramangala originally from Davangere, lodged a complaint with the police. The accused, Ajay and Abhi, are also from the same town and were previously acquainted with the victim.
According to police, the duo met Gangappa recently in Davangere and claimed they had a sleaze video featuring him. They threatened to release the video unless he paid Rs 2 crore.
However, upon viewing the video clips sent by the accused, Gangappa realised they were edited and fake. One of the accused, Abhi, later promised to delete the videos. But on March 15, they again contacted him and repeated their monetary demand.
Disturbed by the threats, Gangappa approached the police and filed a complaint, following which both suspects were arrested.
