MUMBAI: Axis Bank Ltd. witnessed a notable decline in its share price on Friday after reporting a marginal 1.63% fall in its consolidated net profit for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2025. The stock slipped 4.56%, or Rs. 55.05, to trade at Rs. 1152.25 on the BSE, reflecting a cautious response from investors despite a year-on-year increase in total income.
Axis Bank Stock Performance and Trading ActivityThe scrip opened at Rs. 1183.95 and touched an intraday low of Rs. 1149.00. As of now, over 2.42 lakh shares have changed hands on the BSE. The stock has ranged between Rs. 1238.60 and Rs. 1149.00 in the past week. It currently commands a market capitalization of Rs. 3,56,942.45 crore.
Axis Bank, which has a face value of Rs. 2, hit its 52-week high of Rs. 1339.55 on July 12, 2024, and a 52-week low of Rs. 934.00 on January 27, 2025.
Q4 Earnings: Modest Decline in Profit, Growth in IncomeFor Q4FY25, Axis Bank reported a consolidated net profit of Rs. 7489.71 crore, down from Rs. 7613.55 crore in the same quarter last year — a marginal decline of 1.63%. However, consolidated total income rose by 5.61% to Rs. 39,958.04 crore compared to Rs. 37,836.10 crore in Q4FY24.
On a standalone basis, net profit stood at Rs. 7117.50 crore, marginally down by 0.17% year-on-year, while total income rose to Rs. 38,022.03 crore — an increase of 5.65% over Rs. 35,990.33 crore reported in the same period last year.
Annual Financial Performance Remains RobustDespite the modest decline in quarterly profit, Axis Bank delivered a strong performance for the full financial year. On a consolidated basis, net profit for FY25 rose 6.38% year-on-year to Rs. 28,111.74 crore from Rs. 26,423.54 crore in FY24. Total income surged 12.99% to Rs. 1,55,916.86 crore during the period.
Standalone net profit also increased 6.08% to Rs. 26,373.48 crore for FY25, supported by a 12.23% growth in total income at Rs. 1,47,934.10 crore.
Ownership Structure and Market OutlookAs per the latest shareholding data, promoters held 8.18% in the bank, while institutional investors accounted for a dominant 84.82% and non-institutional investors held 7.00%.
While the marginal dip in quarterly profit has triggered a short-term sell-off, Axis Bank’s consistent annual growth in income and profit points to its operational resilience. Analysts are likely to watch the bank’s cost management strategies and interest margin trends closely in upcoming quarters.
